Inside Sim Racing (ISR) is Sim Motion's in-house media brand. That relationship, Sim Motion selling gear while ISR reviews it, is central to how we think about disclosure, and this page explains it plainly.

Sim Motion sells sim racing and flight simulation hardware. Inside Sim Racing produces reviews, buyer's guides, and video content about that same category of gear. Because of that overlap, we hold ourselves to a higher disclosure standard than a typical retailer or a typical media outlet needs to on their own.

THE ONE THING TO KNOW

The Sim Motion Relationship

When ISR reviews a product from a brand that Sim Motion also sells, we disclose that relationship directly, using language along these lines:

Disclosure: [Brand] provided the featured product(s) in this video for review. We also sell [Brand] products through Sim Motion. All opinions are our own.

Selling a brand's products through Sim Motion does not influence whether ISR recommends that brand, how a product is scored, or what we say about it on camera. A product being available in our store is never a factor in whether it gets a positive review. We would rather lose a sale than give a dishonest recommendation.

How and Where We Disclose

Disclosure placement varies slightly by format, based on what best reaches viewers and readers in that format.
VERBAL + ON-SCREEN LABEL

YouTube Videos

The disclosure is placed at the very top of the video description and stated verbally in the video. When a review involves a paid partnership under YouTube's guidelines, YouTube's paid partnership label is displayed on screen automatically per YouTube's own requirements.

Articles

The disclosure appears at the end of the article's opening section, immediately after the introductory paragraphs required for SEO structure.

Social Media

Product tags on our Instagram posts link directly to our own Shopify store through the Instagram Shop. These are a shopping convenience, not an editorial review or recommendation, so they're treated the same as any other product listing on our site.

WHAT TRIGGERS A DISCLOSURE

Product Review Disclosures

We disclose the relationship behind a reviewed product whenever that relationship could reasonably affect how a viewer or reader weighs our opinion. This includes:

"Products provided free of charge by a brand for review"

"Products loaned temporarily for testing"

"Products purchased at a discount for review purposes"

"Products from a brand Sim Motion also carries"

PAID ≠ POSITIVE

Reviews vs. Sponsored Content

We draw a hard line between an independent review and paid brand work. A review is never a paid verdict. Brands may sponsor a video, run an ad, or partner with us on an event, but that arrangement is separate from the review opinion itself and is labeled clearly as advertising or sponsorship when it applies. A brand sending us a product, offering a discount, or working with us in some other capacity does not guarantee a positive review.

WHO CONTROLS THE REVIEW

Editorial Independence

ISR's opinions are based on hands on testing, not brand input. Brands do not see or approve reviews before they publish, do not control scores or conclusions, and do not get to remove criticism. We may contact a brand before publishing to confirm a spec or clarify a technical detail. That is fact checking, not editorial control.

We may use affiliate links and discount codes in video descriptions, articles, and posts. If you purchase through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Using an affiliate link or discount code is entirely optional and never affects whether a product is recommended.

Review Samples and Loaned Products

When a product featured in our content was provided, loaned, or discounted by a brand, we say so. Receiving a product does not guarantee coverage, a positive review, or any specific conclusion. We decide independently whether and how a product is covered.

This policy may be updated as our business grows or as disclosure best practices evolve. Where practical, we will also work to bring older content in line with current disclosure standards over time.

THE POINT OF ALL THIS

Trust is the foundation of both sides of what we do, as a store people buy from and as a media outlet people take recommendations from. This policy is how we intend to keep earning that trust on both sides.
